Sled Dog Racing
Sled Dog Racing is a sport consisting of a musher with a team
of dogs. The goal is for the dog team to pull the musher around
the race trail faster than any other team. Races range in
distance: 0-35 mile races are considered sprint, 36-50 miles
are considered mid-distance, and anything longer than that
(and up to 1049 miles, the longest race in the world) are known
as long distance races.

Sled dog racing can be competitive on many different levels.
Regionally, there are races all over Canada during the winter
months. There are also many Championship events, where
mushers from all over the country and the world will compete
to see who has the best team that year. Prizes range from
ribbons to $100K, depending on the event. Even for a
recreational musher, racing is a great way to get out there and
meet other enthusiasts, and to test the training level of your
team.
